Driving Question: When was a time in history when expansion changed our nation?

Today, you can fly across the country in 6 hours or drive across the country in six days. Imagine if you had to go by horse & buggy, by foot, or non-motorized boats. Two hundred years ago there were also no maps, the land was unexplored, and American Indian nations were less than excited to see explorers traveling through. Travel back in time....
- Why did people want to leave and expand?
- What challenges did they face on the way to this expansion?
- What choices were made when reaching decisions on where to go and where to settle? Why choose the places they settled?
- Choose a famous person involved within Westward Expansion describe how the famous person exhibited honesty, courage, patriotism, and trustworthiness by creating a biography.
- Become an explorer discovering a new frontier and then create a product on Chatterpix/Tellagami or Flipgrid to tell about it.
- Write a pioneer journal where you will write about the daily life on the Oregon Trail, California Gold Rush, or in any Boom Towns/Mining Towns.
- Create a hallway display and an exploration game.
